Crock Pot Kickin’ Sloppy Joes

You know I am a big believer in recipes that use seasoning envelopes, but this Sloppy Joe recipe is one of those that is just better from scratch. Kickin’ Sloppy Joes are just that–the flavor we love with a little added kick. Like just about every other recipe I’ve shared, they’re easy to make. This recipe is also one of the 23 in my Crock Pot e-cookbook! Here’s what you need:

1.5 lbs ground beef, browned and drained

1/2 c. onions, chopped

1/2 Tbsp. minced garlic

3/4 c. ketchup

1/2 c. red bell pepper, chopped

2-1/2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1/8 c. light brown sugar, packed

1-1/2 Tbsp. white vinegar

1-1/2 Tbsp yellow mustard

1 tsp. chili powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 Tbsp. Liquid Smoke flavoring

  1. Brown hamburger, onion and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain fat and return to skillet.
  2. Stir together ketchup, bell pepper, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, chili powder and Liquid Smoke in the Crock Pot.
  3. Stir in beef mixture.
  4. Cook and cover on low for 6 hours.
  5. Serve on hamburger buns or Hawaiian sweet rolls.
