Decorating our front porch is one of my favorite things to do each season. It’s so welcoming when you walk up to the door and see all of the cozy layers of seasonal decor.
The inspiration for the aqua and lime color scheme came from the rug on the porch that I found on Wayfair. The beautiful colors and pattern set the stage for everything else that went into the design. That wooden door was a $15 find from Anything Goes–a local antique store. There are endless decor possibilities with something as simple as a blank door. It adds a layer and opens the door for all kinds of decor options.
The rocking chairs were originally from Cracker Barrel that Ryan found at a yard sale. I stained the wicker and then painted the chairs with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (Provence for this porch).
The pillow covers came from one of my favorite Etsy shops, The Pillow People. The grey design fit in perfectly with the rug.
No porch would be complete without some greenery. Pretty flowers in a vase, I love. But plants? Living plants? Since I can’t even keep a cactus alive, I go for faux. The hanging ferns, yeah, they’re not real. I found them at Target and they held up for 3 years in all kinds of weather. The stems–I found those at Magnolia Market online and I still have them! The potted plant came from Michaels and guess what? I still have that too.
Aren’t they perfect?
Our porch at our new house is not enclosed like this one, so I’m having to do things a little differently. But I’m excited to get it finished up so that I can show you how it looks!
You don’t have to have a design degree to make a cute porch. The trick is to create layers, add some greenery, and coordinate your color scheme. Happy decorating!
