DIY Pumpkin-Shaped Crayons

It’s fall break here and we’re already knee deep in crafts, games and collecting leaves outside. One of my kids’ favorite things to do is to collect all of the broken crayons around the house (there’s only 5 million or so laying around), and melt them into fun shapes. And October is perfect for…you guessed it…pumpkins! I found these adorable silicone candy molds at Michaels and the making the crayons is a breeze.

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Remove the paper from the crayons and break them into small enough pieces to fit into the individual molds.pumpkin-shaped-crayons-silicone-mold
  3. Arrange the crayons in whatever color pattern you want. My kids chose multi-colors.
  4. Place the molds on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the crayons have completely melted.bake-time-of-pumpkin-shaped-crayons-katie-drane
  5. Remove from oven and allow the pumpkin crayons to cool and harden. (You can speed this process up by placing them in the refrigerator.
  6. Once cooled, they are ready to use!

Cheap, easy and cute. That’s my kind of craft project! Have you ever made these before?
