I am so happy to tell you that I have joined Brooke’s Creative Circle (Think Re-Fabbed! If you haven’t heard of her, check her out here, here and here!) The group helps creatives like me hone in on what they really want to do and where their strengths lie so that we can give you our best work.
Fun history lesson–Brooke and I became friends when she and Brandon moved into our old neighborhood. Then they moved. Then we moved. And now we’re neighbors again! Brooke is a true friend and I am so lucky to be able to learn from her.
When I changed from Fun Home Things to Modern Home Ec, I wanted to continue to talk about one of the things I’m most passionate about, home. Home is the launching pad for everything. When home is settled and functioning, life is better. But I also wanted to incorporate some other things, like more about my family, raising children with autism, how to make home run easier using simple tricks and tips and still sharing fabulous recipes.
Good news! I’m still going to be doing all of that! And I am not deleting any of the things I’ve already done. It’s just going to be under a new name…
By using my own name with the new tagline of Home | Heart | Humor–I will be able to share all of the different things that I love the most and have been dying to share with you.
There will be speed bumps along the way. The URL modernhomeec.com will still continue to work, and pretty soon, katiedrane.com will too.
Instagram has allowed me to change my name, but Facebook will not. So I will stop posting there and will have to make a new blog page on FB with the new name. I’ll definitely keep you posted though!
What to expect:
More (and better!) posts that are still about home, recipes, kids, tips and tricks, and crafts. But also about being a mom, a woman, a wife, being in my late 30s…life that you can relate to. Also, life fails. Because I love when people share the truth, not just the pretty parts and let’s face it, fails are funny. If you let them be.
More FB lives and videos. Let’s talk, let’s laugh, let’s interact, let’s make bets on how many of my kids can interrupt the video at any given time. I want to get to know you better and FB Live is a great way to do that.
More fun! For those of you who know me personally, you know that I’m a prankster, sarcastic, and can find the fun and humor in every situation. There will definitely be much more hilariousness.
I’m also a Mamaw in a 38 year old’s body. I make Sunday dinner every Sunday. I feed the birds. I love festive garden flags. I save aluminum foil. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents growing up and that influenced every thing about me.
Weekly encouragement. I am a natural encourager and supporter. It’s who I’ve always been as a person. Each week, we will talk on FB Live about a topic that women are struggling with. It might be something that you all have messaged or commented about, it might be a struggle that I am facing that is on my heart. Either way, we’ll tackle it together and my hope is for you to leave feeling inspired, encouraged and maybe even laugh a little.
