Will It Work Wednesday–An Unlikely Headlight Lense Cleaner

Welcome to ‘Will It Work Wednesday’ where I put tips, techniques and products that I hear about to the test. I’m a sucker for all things As-Seen-On-TV so don’t be surprised if you catch me on here sporting copper socks while using a Vidalia chopper. (What can I say, I gotta know.)

So anyway, I was loading groceries into Big Momma (our Suburban) outside of Dollar General when a lady approached me out of nowhere and pointed out my cloudy headlights and taillights.

First thought–thanks lady. I wasn’t aware that my 2004 SUBURBAN LOOKED LIKE IT HAD HEADLIGHTS FROM 2004. While we’re at it, why don’t you hop inside and hate on my CD/tape player combo. Make a day of it.

Before I could get a good eye roll in, she pointed at her car and said “mine’s a 2004. Doesn’t look like it, does it?”

Whoa. Not at all. It looked brand new. She said “it’s the headlights. I use bug spray with DEET. Spray some of that on, wipe it off…they’ll look good as new.”

Until a few days ago, that handy little trick completely slipped my mind. Then I found this old can of Cutter Backwoods we had buried in the back of the bathroom closet and thought, what the heck, let’s see if it works.

HOLY COW, guys. Not only did it work, but it was SO EASY. I literally sprayed it on, and wiped it off. Instantly they looked better.  Check it out:

I sprayed the bug repellent directly onto the taillight and used a cotton rag to wipe it off.

After just one pass, look at the grime that came off.

I was absolutely amazed by the results. And it was so quick and easy!
